For those that know me or follow me on social media you’ll know that I’m a bit of a fan of a cheeky weekend away. Well if you work hard and have ridiculously busy weeks, there’s nothing better than a night away with the one you love to recharge the batteries and explore new places.
So with this passion and my job there’s nothing I love more than packing. Yes I’m really that sad, you might have already read my previous blogs on how to pack a suitcase with tissue and everything!
There are so many things that should be taken into consideration, and after determining the fundamentals such as your getaway destination, hotel, any dinner reservations, planned activities and the weather, packing your luggage can be quite the headache.
For a simple weekend away you will likely not want too much luggage, as it can be a hassle to deal with, and with the limited amount of time to enjoy your getaway, you will want to ensure that the process of packing and unpacking is as seamless as possible. Fortunately, there are some tips that can help you pack your luggage with ease, and that will ensure as few problems as possible during your tip. For some efficient packing techniques you can read my other blog here www.demi-couture.co.uk/packing-a-capsule-wardrobe-for-going-on-holiday/
It is crucial to get the right size bag for your trip. By now, you have an idea of how big or small your luggage will need to be just by taking a look at the quantity of clothes, shoes, accessories, and God know what else that you will want to take along with you!. It should be able to accommodate at least 90 percent of the luggage you plan to take along on your weekend getaway.
One factor that should be considered when choosing the right size of bag for your trip is the type of activities you have planned for your weekend getaway.
While getaways are purely for relaxation and fun, you might be unable to resist the temptation of checking out the local shops and even partaking in a little retail therapy whilst you’re away. If shopping is high on your agenda, it is best to consider bags that will leave a little room for any extras you might buy on your weekend away.
Even if you plan on only window shopping, choosing a bag with some additional space after packing your entire luggage can come in handy for those times that you succumb to impulse purchases.
One helpful piece of luggage is the expandable suitcase. These suitcases can be unzipped to accommodate several more cubic inches of storage space. These work well for a holiday or break you know you will involve a shopping trip or 7… I’m thinking New York or Vegas!
There are many different types of suitcases on the market. Each one will offer something a little bit different to each traveller. Some will be great for a weekend trip whilst others better for long haul holidays. Regardless of the type of suitcase you need, Cellini have a wide selection at different price ranges to accommodate any type of trip. Here are my top picks from the store:Samsonite Neopulse Spinner 55cm/20inch. This is 38L of luggage in a rock-solid 55cm Samsonite case which is perfect cabin baggage or a long weekend away. It’s a stylish and effortlessly manoeuvrable hard suitcase on multi-directional wheels, I have chosen this style in the Navy at £169.
If you’re off on a weekend away then look no further than this Brics Life Holdall. Crafted from an exclusive Mustang material, which is engineered from a PVC base with cotton-viscose flock, with a luxury full-grain vegetable tan Tuscan leather detailing. The holdall’s supple construction means you have more space to play with when you’re filling it up and ensures easy storage when it is not in use.The holdall has a small zipped pocket on the front for easy access to your tickets, while the full-grain leather detail on the handles, zip puller, bottom corners and logo badges adds a perfectly stylised finish. If its good enough for Amal Clooney, i’m in! Priced at £310.
American Tourister Bon Air 4-wheel 75cm large Spinner suitcase. If its stylish and spacious larger luggage that you seek then this large Spinner suitcase from American Tourister will tick all of the boxes. It’s also a secure, tough and a surprisingly light suitcase at only 4.2kg. I wanted to add a bit of colour so picked this case in Lime, priced at £115.
Perfect for a gentleman who doesn’t require a large holdall and may have some garments that need hanging rather than folding. This Travel garment bag from Bric’s LIFE collection. Made in their characteristic suede look synthetic material, it is both resistant and durable, and features vegetable tanned Tuscan leather finishes. Perfect for taking special care of your clothes on every trip, priced at £160.
Buying the right type of luggage gives you flexibility and allows you to pack your luggage to perfection for that weekend getaway you have always been dreaming about. With the right luggage and the best style of packing, you can get the most out of your trip. Happy holiday’s xx
