So it’s absolutely Baltic outside and all we want to do is cover our bodies in as much warmth as possible, but who says you can’t look stylish in winter?! Personally it is my favourite season, I love layering up and here is how to get all cosy whilst still looking chic in the cold.
One of the items we wear the most during these months is unfortunately one of the trickiest things to buy. The good old winter woolly! Knitwear is generally thick, textured, cosy, comfortable and regrettably makes you look 2 sizes bigger than you actually are! If you are an apple shape and carry the majority of your weight on the top half of your body, or have a large bust, you need to be extra careful not to add too much bulk. Simple cashmere sweaters and fine knits are your best bet and are a long-term investment.
Team knitwear with dark indigo jeans (black and you will find they pick up the fluff from the wool) or a little leather skirt. You can layer up cardigans and scarves, and for chic daywear, embrace relaxed jumper dresses. Mint Velvet has some fabulous flattering pieces this season.
If there is one thing to invest in during this season, make sure that it’s a coat that float’s your boat! Whether it be Military, Masculine, Cape, Tailored, Tweed or Fur, remember to always choose the style that best suits your body shape. If you are flat-chested, double breasted coats will add flattering detail. Belted coats and jackets will create a waist whilst the superhero cape will keep you covered and take your style stake to a whole new dimension. Just make sure you balance the volume on the top with slim trousers and boots. A camel coat is a classic and wearable investment piece. Make sure the tailoring is simple and effortlessly chic. Camel is flattering on so many different ages and skin tones, perfect for any professional ladies out there needing to make a fantastic first impression.
So thanks to your Fairy Clothes Mother at least if we have a long cold winter, you’ll still look fabulously stylish!
